Sponsor Discretion is encouraged and expected for all entries. JCL Delegates should be advised that as this is a statewide competition, entries in any category should be of high quality. Sponsors should be sure that all of their delegates have read, fully understand, and adhere to these Contest Rules before entering any contest.
Pre-Judging
All Graphic Arts categories having 40 or more entries will be pre-judged by a panel of at least three judges on Friday evening of Convention. The entries not eliminated in this pre-judging will be judged on Saturday following the normal judging process. These large categories will still be divided into either two or three levels at an appropriate point.
Computer Generated Materials
A computer may be used to process text or to prepare labels for a map, chart, etc. Images from the Internet or CDROM encyclopedias may be used as part of a poster, map, chart, etc. However, a project may not be completely generated by the computer, printed and submitted, except for entry in the Digital Imagery Contest. For instance, a poster may not be designed and created on the computer, printed and submitted as an entry. Students may not, for example, print a map off the computer and enter it in the map category. Absolutely no computer games or generated cartoons will be accepted. If you have any questions regarding these rules, please contact a State Chair.
